Fission power is not a good option, but fusion is gaining support. Unfortunately it is FAR from feasable at the moment. Because it is held within a magnetic field, it may become eventually possible to use this in smaller appliances. If you are more interested in nuclear fusion technology look up ITER. It is a current project where they have just managed to make input energy break even with output. It is a long way away but eventually a good option.

This in itself is not that useful, but it paves the way for other discoveries. Someone will never designe something brilliant right from teh start. This just proves that we can fly off solar power. As technology improves, energy conversion rate of solar panels, aerodynamics and weight of planes. This could prove to be brilliant, and fly potentially all day carrying more people. Running costs would be far lower as much of the cost of a plane is in its fuel.

fuck that get a bazooka

wow thats cool.I a am working on a small rc solar car

unbelievably beautiful...especially because of the promise it brings. If only NASA was used for more things like this that better the world, instead of other shadier things...war, spying, etc

For fission nuclear power, you need a lot of shielding to protect you from the radioactivity produced by the fuel and reactor. This is provided by dense materials - Typically lead, concrete. Thus - NOT suitable for your car let alone your aeroplane. IMHO you don't know what your talking about??

well, I really don't know... nuclear power would be the best, as it last a long time... but we don't really master it yet enough to put it in everybody's car and it still produce radioactive waste AT THE MOMENT solar is good when operating, but the production is terribly polluting IMHO the biggest concern is not the energy but the way we use it (i.e. I go to work were you live and you go to work were I live, we both use a car, and alone even it it seats seven = 100% pure waste)

and as a alternative, what will we use in 100 years?

ok ya thats gr8 and all but whats its purpose? can it carry any1 or is it just this flying mass?
